Follow the A92 past Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes as far as the New Inn Roundabout. Take the third exit signposted Cupar and St.Andrews: this is the A914 ( but on old maps it is the A92)
Follow the A194 for 0.8 mile and turn RIGHT on the unclassified road signposted Star and Kennoway.
Follow this road for 3.2 miles up a steep hill, through woods ( Drummie Woods), past a few houses on the left ( after a narrow bridge. Langdyke) up another hill and turn LEFT at the top signposted Cults. Drive 2.1 miles along this road to Downfield.
This road runs along the edge of a wood on your right (east), past Devon Farm entrance on your left, then as you climb on an open road there are magnificent views of the Lomond Hills and the Howe of Fife. The road continues to climb with Dow Hill to the north (in front of you) and communication masts on the top. You will drive past Clatto Farm entrance on the Right and 100 or so yards further on you will see on the LEFT the Downfield sign and a newly-constructed road. Turn left down this farm road and Downfield House is 0.4 mile on the Right. You will pass the new farmhouse and a standing stone and the farm hand’s bungalow on the left and the farm buildings on your right. 50 yards past these buildings is Downfield House. Turn in to the first entry drive and park on the right.
